Windmill and the Moon

In Northern Colorado, there are a number of windmills outside of Fort Collins. One at the Meadow Springs Ranch provides a nice spot. for some early morning color

Red Windmill Sunrise in Northern Colorado

Many sunrises in Colorado are Orange and Blue. This morning, just before the Orange and blue colors showed, we got a nice bit of red and purple to highlight the sunrise along with a little virga. This was taken in Northern Colorado near the Wyoming border and they have their fair share of windmills.

Coming Out Of the Fog

Coming Out Of The Fog. This was taken on the high plains of eastern Colorado. They had a nice snow fall that created a heavy fog. I was able to get the photograph of the tree as the sun was breaking out of the fog. you can see the sky above the tree is mostly clear but fog is still hugging the ground. The effect was very nice.

Red Door Full Moon

I took this near a farm in Northern Colorado -- about 10 miles southeast of Ft Collins. The moonrise coincided with the orange and blue Colorado sunset. It resulted in some beautiful colors. i wasn't happy with the clouds at the start but the moon peaked above the clouds at the time the sun went down.

Old Barn Sunrise

Another beautiful December sunrise in Colorado. This is an old barn part of a small farm on the outskirts of Fort Collins. The City is moving in and around the old farm. I wanted to capture this before it "Reduced to parking spaces" (stolen from The Pretenders My City Was Gone).

ThunderHead

An interesting cloud formation overhead as i was leaving work caused me to get my camera out to shoot. I was too late to capture the interesting clouds but it balooned into a huge thunderhead. The sun was just setting which caused the tops of the clouds to be highlighted with a pretty nasty thnderstorm causing hail and winds to hit weld county, colorado

Farm Sunrise

Farm Sunrise. Went out to Eastern Colorado in Weld County and captured the farm surrounded by the land that they harvest shortly before Christmas. The sunrise started out slow and there wasn't any clouds on the horizon. This allowed the farm to be put in the yellow background of the sun rising and the clouds became most colorful.

Gesse in Colorado Winter

A sunset in Larimer County near Loveland on the Ryan Gulch Reservoir. The geese are hanging around getting ready to roost for the night. a nice color on the sky from the sunsetting and getting a refletion off the lake.

Start Of A New Day

Coloring the Lone Tree Sunrise at Fossil Creek Reservior near Fort Collins, Colorado. This lone tree is a favorite of mine. The sunrise was a very colorful event this morning. The color spread all the way to the mountain foothills west of me.

Foggy Lone Tree with Friends

Another photo of the Lone Tree at Fossil Creek Reservoir Open Space. This one is taken in a heavy fog with a flock of birds hanging around. I ended up making this a black and white photo which i don't do much but i think the mood is better set with the B&W version. It was just after a wet heavy snow storm hit the area. you can see a few branches have been knocked off the tree and on the ground.

Colorado Front Range Sunset

A Colorado Lone Tree stands on the front range plains near Fort Collins at sunset. The sunsets in colorado in winter are a beautiful blend of orange and blue. This was one of the prettier versions.

Close to the finish

My favorite lone tree has died and some of the branches are starting to break away after wet snow storms. Today's sunrise was without clouds so i used a 100-400 zoom lens to only capture the tree in the orange shade of the sky just before the sun comes up.

Ridgeline sunrise

This was taken just west of Fort Collins looking east at the colorful sunset. This is the start of the Rocky Mountians foothills and just behind me is Horsetooth Reservoir. The ridgeline is going down and i liked the trees.

Blown Away Sunset

This photo was taken on the back end of dusk. The sun had set and there wasn't a clould in the sku. The orange over the foothills was nice to see. i liked how Horsetooth Reservoir was white with a dusting of snow and ice. The tree grew in this position. Made for nice balance with the orange relfection on the other side of the image.

Cloud Hole Sunrise

In the winter, Colorado has fantastic sunrises. i was interested in a panoramic photo becuase the colors stretched from North to South. However, it looked like the clould opened up a little hole fo outer space. The hole needed a little bit more attention.
