The Mittens in Monument Valley in the Navajo

My first visit to Monument Valley in Navajo Indian Reservation. It is specatular when you see it in person, even the best photos cannot give you the scale and beauty. This is the Mittens Buttes (left Mitten and Right Mitten or East Mitten and West Mitten) and the Butte to the right is the Merrick Butte.

3 Buttes

The buttes are part of the Monument Valley in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. The valley is sacred grounds that lies within the territory of the Navajo Nation Reservation. These buttes are shown in many photos of the "monument valley". The West Mitten Butte (or left-handed mitten butte) is on the left. The center butte is czlled the East Mitten Butte (or the right handed mitten butte. The final Butte on the right is called The Merrick Butte.

Mile Marker 13 Sunset

Mile Marker 13 Sunset. In the movie, Forrest Gump, there is a scene where Forrest stops running after 3+ years. The scene was filmed on mile marker 13 US Hiway 163 in Southern Utah with the beautiful buttes of the Monument Valley in the background. I took this photo of the sun setting there. it is a beautiful spot for a photo.

Nighttime in the Momument Valley

This was taken on US Hiway 163 in Southern Utah. Looking to the south are some of the Buttes that make up the Monument Valley. The Hiway provides a nice line to the buttes. This was taken about 30 min after the sunset. It provides a nice dark blue for the sky with a yellow and tint of orange on the horizon silhouetting the unique formation.
